For many family members, the struggle to get their elderly loved one to accept help and support in the form of carers can be extremely real. The words “I don’t want to be a burden” are heard from a number of families and the conversation surrounding them gaining more assistance to help with the bettering of their lives is simply shut down before it has even begun. However, here at Caring Wings, through our wealth of experience and understanding surrounding home care, we have a few ideas to offer any families who are looking to gain more support with their family member but are struggling with the process.
The most important thing we want to emphasise is the fact that we always work towards being a friendly face. Care doesn’t happen overnight. Due to its extremely personal and sensitive nature, we always make sure a relationship has started to build before anyone steps foot inside the home. Building trust and confidence in us is vital and the key to creating a positive and willing outlook on our services. We feel, by looking at us as a friend, not a stranger, the thought of our presence becomes a little easier. We believe if someone see’s us the reliable, friendly and compassionate people we are, they can begin to actually look forward to the entire process instead of worrying about it.
We have also experienced what the huge relief having our services in your life can do to family members. Affecting their lives for the better too, by having the peace of mind that their loved one is gaining some vital support that can improve their quality of life, often takes a huge amount of pressure off their daily lives. By looking at it from the angle that it wouldn’t just be the one individual that would benefit from this support, and that the family members could also have some life changing, positive help too, a more open-minded outlook could be gained.
All we aim to do is help and support people in need, and that support is not just limited directly to the person who we are caring for. There are so many domino effects from the friendly care we share, helping to relieve huge amounts of stress for the person being cared for and their close family members also.
At the end of the day, welcoming someone other than family or a close friend into your home can be extremely daunting, however, with Caring Wings it really doesn’t have to be. We have a team of some of the most wonderful carers who are dedicated to making you feel as empowered, revitalised, comfortable and safe as possible, whilst we work hard at putting measures in place to assist your daily lives. There is nothing better than leading an independent, happy life for as long as possible and that can be achieved with a little helping hand from us, with the dignity and respect you truly deserve.
